LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Students, teachers and staff wore red at many Oldham County Schools on Monday to honor a 5th grader killed in a car crash.

Jake Luxemburger would have turned 11 on Sept. 25. The Kenwood Station Elementary School student was killed Sept. 16 off Interstate 71, when a fleeing suspect in what police said was a stolen vehicle hit the car he was riding in.

The district posted images of the red lights illuminating the football stadium at South Oldham High School, and it showed banners on the fence signed by students from all its elementary schools.

Images also showed the South Oldham High School baseball team greeting students as they got off the bus Monday morning. The team also posed with a large sign proclaiming happy birthday to Jake along with a number 3, which was his jersey number on the Lyndon Bananas.

Tymetrius Walter, 23, faces murder and other charges associated with the crash.

A GoFundMe page set up for the family of Luxemburger has raised more than $63,000.
