LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — It's almost time for a new part of Waterfront Park to open.
The highly-anticipated Waterfront Park PlayPort will officially be dedicated at 1105 Rowan Street Wednesday, March 26, at 11 a.m.
This marks a big milestone for first phase of Waterfront Park's westward expansion, a $50 million project that extends the park to a 22-acre area into Louisville's west end along the Ohio River, between 10th and 14th streets.
In partnership with the Kentucky Science Center, the PlayPort is a free, outdoor experiential learning area for kids of all ages. The 3-acre play area will have large-scale construction equipment and river-themed artifacts for learning and playing. It will also include a classroom and a community meeting space, restrooms and a parking lot.
