LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Waterfront Park is working on adding a unique playground for kids.
The new park, called PlayPort, will feature real equipment and artifacts for kids to explore, like an excavator, dump truck and boat.
It's part of the $50 million Waterfront Park West Expansion to add 22 acres of green space along the Ohio River past 9th Street.
Project leaders partnered with the Kentucky Science Center to design the playground, which is expected to be complete by next fall.
In addition to the PlayPort, a classroom and community meeting space, a restroom building and a parking lot are being constructed.
