Overnight lane restrictions underway for East End Tunnel inspections

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some lane restrictions are underway as crews begin to inspect the East End Tunnels.

The I-265 northbound tunnel closed at 9 p.m. Sunday and will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.

It will close during those same hours Monday night and Tuesday night.

Engineers will be performing an in-depth inspection of the tunnel's structural, mechanical and electrical systems.

Crews will switch over to inspect the southbound tunnel during overnight hours on Wednesday and Thursday.

TRIMARC tweeted Sunday evening that traffic is being rerouted onto US 42, and anyone driving to Indiana should use downtown bridges instead.
