LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People in Louisville didn't have to go far for beach vibes on Labor Day weekend.
Louisville's Jimmy Buffett Tribute Festival was held on Saturday and Sunday at Paristown presented by the Derby City Parrotheads. The two-day music festival featured a lineup of Jimmy Buffett tribute artist, Coral Reefer Band Alumni and Trop Rock Royalty.
Singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, who popularized beach bum soft rock with the escapist Caribbean-flavored song “Margaritaville” and turned that celebration of loafing into a billion-dollar empire of restaurants, resorts and frozen concoctions, died last year.
"It just became a really great place for people to come together to celebrate and memorialize him and honor his music so we have bands from all over the region here this year," said Jeanne Hilt, the Paristown director of development.
The Parrotheads in Paradise consist of 200 clubs and 22,000 members.
