LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A pastor of a historic Baptist church in Louisville died over the holiday weekend.
Pastor Robert Lyons, of Lampton Baptist Church, has died, according to a Facebook post from his wife on Sunday.
Lyons was senior pastor at the church for the last decade, seeing it through a relocation to Louisville's Shelby Park neighborhood and reestablishment after financial struggles.
Lampton Baptist Church dates back to 1866 and is 158 years old. Fellow ministers remember the late pastor for his kind spirit.
"He has done great things, he has done marvelous things. He has done wonderful things," Pastor Timothy Findley Jr., with Kingdom Fellowship Christian Life Center, said Monday. "For all the wonderful things I'm sure that people will say about him being a great leader and a great pastor, what really sticks out to me was that he was a very, very kind, very down to earth and sincere person."
Funeral arrangements are pending. There's no word yet on a cause of death.
