LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The personnel file for the Jefferson County Public Schools math teacher, just named Kentucky's Teacher of the Year, shows he was recently investigated for educator misconduct.

WDRB News obtained a copy of Kumar Rashad's JCPS personnel file on Friday. It shows Rashad was reassigned on Oct. 10 from Breckinridge Metropolitan High School to "non-instructional duties" at the Special Needs East Bus Compound.

JCPS hasn't provided a reason why Rashad was reassigned.

It's unclear if it's related, but his file shows that last year, the state Education Professional Standards Board reviewed a report of educator misconduct and recommended an investigation.

Rashad's file also shows the state board reprimanded him in 2018 for language used in an email to Wayne Lewis, former state education commissioner, where he accused Lewis of racism.

Rashad, who also serves as a Louisville Metro Council member, representing District 3, has not yet responded to a request for comment on Friday. In a statement on Oct. 25, Rashad said he was "confident the outcome" of the investigation will "clear my name."
