LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The animal shelter in Jeffersonville is asking for the community's help because it's over capacity.

According to a recent post on the shelter's Facebook page, 16 dogs don't have a kennel on the adoption floor or even in the stray area. Officials are asking people to pick up their dog if it's at the shelter to help ease the space shortage.

Owners are also asked to make sure your dogs' microchips and tags are up to date. It's also a good idea to secure fences and gates so your pets can't escape.

If your dog does go missing, check with the shelter as soon as possible.

The animal shelter is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
