LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- 29 year-old Damon Talbert was found dead in a car in Louisville's west end late Friday night.

Police say they are still looking for his killer.

Damon was the younger brother Lashawn Talbert, an artist on the local hip-hop circuit known as "Sugar Shizz" who died after suffering injuries from a shooting in August 2010.

Around midnight Friday night, two years later almost to the day, Lashawn's brother Damon Talbert was found dead from multiple gun shot wounds inside a car near 22nd and Burwell.

"The caller reported there was a black male slumped over the steering wheel of a Pontiac in the street," said Carey Klain with LMPD.

"His mother could not make it (to the press conference). She's devastated," said community activist Christopher 2X.

Police say they received no reports of a shooting, but they do believe it was a homicide.

"At this point, we're just looking for any information that might have led up to this," said Klain.

Department of Corrections records show 29-year old Damon Talbert was on probation after being convicted in 2009 of robbery, burglary and manslaughter to the second degree.

But criminal record or not, Talbert is the 35th person to be fatally gunned down in Louisville this year.

"82 intentional gun shot wound victims this year. 35 fatal. Damon was the 35th," said 2X.

13 year-old Jayjuan Taylor was asked by the Talbert family to speak on their behalf.

He says gun fire has become a norm in today's society.

"When people hear gun shots, nobody jump and run. It's a normal thing. It happens all the time," said Taylor.

Taylor says he's speaking out because he wants to be part of the change that he believes is needed.

"Trying to prove to people that when you kill somebody, their life is gone forever. You crushed somebody's family. And you ripped a piece out of somebody's heart and we need to get people to stop doing that," he said.

If you have any information regarding Damon Talbert's death, you're asked to call 574-LMPD.
