LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Early voting is now underway for Kentucky's upcoming primary election.
Secretary of State Michael Adams cast his ballot at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center in Louisville Thursday morning, the first day of in-person, no excuse early voting for the 2024 primary.

The goal is to make it easier for workers to vote in a more flexible way for their schedules, as well as reduce lines and wait times to make voting more accessible.
"I think our primaries are increasingly important, though, as our state gets more polarized geographically, as Louisville gets more blue and Lexington gets more blue and rural areas get more red. Increasingly, the primary is the general," Adams said. "So it's really critical for voters to come out and take advantage of these primary elections and pick their nominees for the two parties."
Kentucky's primary election day is Tuesday, May 21.
Early voting takes place for three days, May 16-18, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
