LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A private screening was held Tuesday for a movie based off a true story in Louisville.

The movie, "Ordinary Angels," is about the community coming together during a historic and deadly snowstorm in 1994 in Kentucky to help a three-year-old girl get a lifesaving liver transplant.

Michelle Schmitt became known as the "snowbaby of Louisville."

That organ donation gave Michelle 27 more years with her family.

Michelle has since passed away, but her sister, Ashley, who has also received an organ donation, hopes this movie inspires others.

"I just hope it brings a lot of awareness to organ donation and just the community coming together and just the miracles that God can do," Ashley said.

The film stars Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson.

It's scheduled to hit theaters on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024.
