LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hundreds of people gathered on the steps of Metro Hall in downtown Louisville Sunday to show their support for Ukraine.
Congressman Morgan McGarvey and other local leaders spoke about not backing down to Russia in a war that started just over three years ago.
Despite a contentious encounter between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump, some supporters of Ukraine are optimistic.
"These things happen but I have faith that it will resolve itself, they will find mutual understanding," said Yuliya Roberts, who attended the rally. "It just has to take some time. It takes time."
Zelenskyy said continued support from the United States is crucial in fighting the war. To date, the U.S. has given Ukraine more than $175 billion since the war began.
