LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --Ā The Salvation Army has a goal to raise $1 million this holiday season to meet the growing demands for essential services in the Louisville area.
According to a news release, the Salvation Army provides more than 110,000 meals, 55,000 nights of shelter and 1,800 emergency financial assistance to local residents.Ā
"The holiday season brings unique challenges for many in our community, but it also brings out the generosity of those who can help others,ā Major Mark Hunter, Louisville Area Commander, said in a news release.
The Red Kettle Season is underway. The nonprofit is inviting clubs, schools, churches, businesses and families to volunteer. There are 60 bellringing locations around the area and a volunteer shift is two hours.
This year, the Salvation Army is offering Red Kettle Match Fridays.
- Nov. 29 donations will be matched up to $10,000 by Hardscuffle, Inc
- Dec. 6 donations will be matched up to $10,000 by Larry & Dana Stroud
- Dec. 13 donations will be matched up to $10,000 by Kosair for Kids
- Dec. 20 donations matched up to $10,000 by Klein Family Foundation ā Beth & Richard Klein
