LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Several animals were killed early Monday morning in a barn fire off Newburg Road in Louisville.
Louisville firefighters responded around 4:15 a.m. to the 1500 block of Schuff Lane, just north of Interstate 264 and just south of the Louisville Zoo. When firefighters got there, a large barn was already engulfed in flames.
Due to the intensity of the fire, crews were unable to enter the barn. It took approximately 20 minutes for 21 firefighters to bring the fire under control.
The animals inside the barn didn't survive the fire. The Louisville Fire Department is investigating the cause.
