LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Money.com recently ranked the top 50 cities to live in the United States, and Jeffersonville, Indiana, made the cut at No. 49.
The list was complied using cost of living data as well as diversity, economic opportunity, education, amenities, the housing market and quality of life. All the cities on the list had to have at least 20,000 people, a population at least 85% as racially diverse as the state it's in and have a median household income at least 85% of the state's.
In Jeffersonville, they found a "large suburban city (that's) best known for the successful revitalization of its downtown riverfront district," the listing wrote.
"Since the inauguration of the pedestrian and cyclist bridge, the area has experienced a commercial boom that’s made a marked impact on the community," it continued. "Millions of visitors—many from neighboring Louisville—cross the bridge annually to enjoy everything Jeffersonville and southern Indiana have to offer: the Ohio River Greenway cycling and walking trails, the Ohio Valley Fossil Trail, free concerts at the Riverstage and countless local boutiques and restaurants (there’s even a multi-city culinary trail)."
The list noted Jeffersonville's population of 31,808, its median household income of $59,432, its median home price of $190,594 and its unemployment rate of 3.1%.
The only other Indiana city on the list was Carmel, which came in at No. 19. Atlanta, Georgia, was ranked No. 1.
