LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new partnership is launching free aviation training in Southern Indiana, creating a fast track from high school to high-demand careers.

Vincennes University, Prosser Career Education Center and the Clark County Regional Airport announced the Southern Indiana Aviation Initiative to train future pilots and aviation maintenance technicians.

The program starts at Prosser this fall, with a permanent Aviation Technology Center planned for the 2027–28 academic year.

"With the aviation industry facing an urgent need for skilled professionals, this initiative directly addresses labor market trends," organizers said.

Students will choose between aviation flight or aviation maintenance while earning college credit through Vincennes University.

VU President Dr. Chuck Johnson said, "The aviation industry is at a pivotal moment and Vincennes University, along with our great partners here in Southern Indiana, is responding."
