LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police in southern Indiana are investigating the death of a man after an early morning house fire.
Jennings County Sheriff's Office received calls about 7:30 a.m. Sunday of a house fire in the 4500 block of North County Road 350 West (Geneva Road), off State Road 7 in Queensville, Indiana State Police, Versailles post, said in a release.
After receiving reports that someone may still be inside the home, Jennings County Sheriff's deputies and officers with the North Vernon Police Department arrived and tried to get in as smoke filled the home.
Due to cold temperatures, firefighters with the Scipio-Geneva Township Fire Department had a tough time putting the fire out. While searching the home, firefighters found the body of 33-year-old Kody A. Perry.
Detectives with Indiana State Police in Versailles and the Jennings County Sheriff's Office are investigating, and the Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
An autopsy of Perry will be conducted to determine his cause of death.
