LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The United States rehearsed the extraction of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro at a compound in Kentucky.

U.S. forces captured Maduro and his wife overnight Saturday on multiple federal drug trafficking charges.

According to The New York Times, the Joint Special Operations Command built a full-scale model replica of Maduro's compound. JSOC is supported by special operations units at Fort Campbell.

The New York Times reported that at the compound, "they practiced blowing through steel doors at ever-faster paces. The military had been readying for days to execute the mission, waiting for good weather conditions and a time when the risk of civilian casualties would be minimized."

Maduro was rotating between six and eight locations and the U.S. had to wait for him to be at the compound they had trained to attack.
