LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- UofL Health is offering Pfizer's newest COVID-19 booster.
The booster is designed to produce strong immune responses against the latest strain of the virus. Doctors said the new strain of COVID-19 is spreading quicker than other strains but causing fewer hospitalizations.
UofL Health said it's important to get the new vaccine, even if you've gotten other boosters.
"We have new variants out there that the first two didn't address," said Dr. Hugh Shoff, associate chief medical officer at UofL Hospital. "So you may have created antibodies that were not really applicable to that first COVID we saw. Now that we have changes in the virus, it's time to change the vaccine to teach your body to do new antibodies for the new variant."
People who get the shot may feel sick for a little bit. Doctors said to eat well, drink water and take Tylenol or Ibuprofen.
Anyone six months or older is eligible for the new booster.
