LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Vine Grove fire station caught fire overnight Wednesday, resulting in extensive damage.
Vine Grove Fire Chief Matt Haddle said no injuries were reported after station No. 3 at 203 N. North Mill ST. caught fire. Firefighters worked throughout the night to get the flames out.
The department lost three trucks in the fire, including the antique 1941 fire engine that was used in parades and fire fighter funerals. A 3,000 gallon tanker truck was also destroyed as well was many of the department's supplies and hoses. Â
"This doesn't compromise any of our responses at all, so we will still be the Vine Grove fire department with the quick response time that we have," Haddle said Wednesday.
Other nearby departments will assist Vine Grove if needed.Â
A pink truck next to the station was also severely damaged, one that was used for many breast cancer awareness events. It's believed a lightning strike cause the fire, but the state fire marshal will complete an investigation.Â
Haddle said the cost of the fire is estimated to be close to $1.5 million.Â
