LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Ohio River is going down but the mess it left behind is why the Waterfront Park needs help to clean up.
MSD said water started to crest Thursday night and the Waterfront Park is looking for people to come help clean up the mess.
It's asking for volunteers to come out Monday and Tuesday to pick up debris. Clean up will happen between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
People are asked to dress appropriately for the elements and wear closed toe shoes. Waterfront Park will have supplies on hand and staff will help with more of the heavy lifting removal.
"We clean up floods maybe as 12-15 floods a year, this is a pretty substantial flood and we call for volunteers and we call for volunteers because volunteers want to help," Waterfront Park Director of Development Ashley Smith said.
Waterfront Park said the last time they did a call out for volunteers was in 2020.
