LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A reporter for WDRB News was recognized for her work in the community on Saturday night.
Amanda Roberts was honored during the second annual Rev. Dr. Charles Elliott Jr. Peace Awards at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville.
During the ceremony, 24 grassroots community leaders were recognized for their outstanding community service in seven categories. Roberts was selected for TV media.
"It was such an honor to be part of Rev. Charles Elliott's Peace awards," Roberts posted on Facebook. "He's a man who's accomplished so much to make our world a better place. I'm thankful to have even been in the room."
Elliott walked and worked with Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. Around 400 guests, including several elected officials attended the event to thank Elliott for over 60 years of work on civil rights, justice and peace.
In 2012, Elliott was inducted into the Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame. And in 2018, he was honored with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Award presented by Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer.
