The funding will go to the expansion and restructuring of the emergency response network and proactively protect Kentuckians in all 120 counties.
The city is also rebuilding its fire station, which is already underway following a Sept. 23 groundbreaking.
The storm left 81 people dead and destroyed hundreds of homes when it tore through the western Kentucky area just weeks before Christmas.
