Renovations are underway at the Baxter Community Center, which has been serving Beecher Terrace residents since 1940.
Once the phase is completed, it will include 210 brand new units to the mixed-income community.
The city bought the former Porter Paints site, where the park is expected to be built, back in 2018.
The project will cost $11 million and add 4,500 square feet.

According to a news release, Marian Development Group has broken ground on the two communities, Lower Hunter's Trace and Crossings at Mill Creek.
It's part of Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer's 12-year effort to boost digital inclusion.

But many say they plan to return to a brand new housing complex in 2020.
Construction on the new Beecher Terrace is expected to be done in Summer 2020.
