An effort to grant landmark status to Lawton Court in the Meriwether neighborhood failed despite getting a majority of votes at a January meeting of Louisville's landmarks commission.
If passed, the plan would give city employees 12 weeks of paid leave after a birth or an adoption event.
The FOP President also addressed one group's problems with the contract.
Councilman Bill Hollander says he won't support the contract as written.
Metro Council will take a final, deciding vote on the plan next week.
Tuesday, some members expressed concerns with the contract, which doesn't include reforms.
But council could pursue those restrictions in the future in separate legislation.
Twenty states already ban the practice on minors. Covington, Kentucky, passed a similar law this year.
After a recent opinion by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, some council members believe the city might be able to regulate “aesthetics-related” concerns, like height, design and location of antennas and poles.
LMPD interim Chief Robert Schroeder offered some tweaks to the legislation but didn't have any problems with some of the proposed changes, Councilman Brandon Coan said.
