The bridge on Bells Mill Road that connects two major roads will be closed for several months starting Monday.
Construction requiring some lane restrictions will continue overnight and on weekends until late November, when the project is expected to be completed.
The extended closure will prepare for Phase 4 of the renewal project.
Starting Tuesday, May 30, at 8 p.m., the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 crossing the bridge will close.
Starting Friday, drivers crossing the Sherman Minton Bridge will notice a big change.
Project officials said the closures are "weather permitting."
It's unclear at this time when the work will be rescheduled.
It happened to some people on Wednesday, while others say it happened to them a few months ago.
Drivers will only have a few days of reprieve from the closure as another one is scheduled for this weekend.
Crews are currently focusing on work under the bridge that spans across the Ohio River from Louisville to southern Indiana.
