Schneck Medical Center announced Tuesday that some surgeries requiring an inpatient admission after procedures will be postponed as long as it's medically safe.
According to the Indiana State Department of Health, new cases and hospitalizations stand at rates Indiana has not seen since February.
The counties with the biggest increases are in northern Indiana, with some having up to five times the cases per capita compared to other counties.
The Indiana State Department of Health on Thursday reported 1,397 new cases of the respiratory virus and 16 deaths where the virus was a contributing factor.
Last week, Indiana was fifth from the bottom for doses delivered per 100,000 residents. As of Tuesday, the state was ranked 35th.
The state health department also reported 43 additional virus-related deaths in the state on Saturday.
The health department said 9,317 Hoosiers have died from the virus since the start of the pandemic.

The report brings the state's total confirmed infections to 587,049 since the start of the pandemic.
