It happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 2200 Block of Hale Avenue, which is off S. 22nd Street near W. Oak Street.

A child was hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a house fire Wednesday morning in Louisville's Portland neighborhood.

Firefighters arrived to find a 3-story home on fire.

The man has been identified as 36-year-old Timothy Edward Spaulding, according to a news release.

Rescue crews were sent to the "Old Dam," near Sand Island and the Ohio Falls power plant, after reports that a 17-foot John Boat was stuck.

Louisville Fire officials said the blaze started around 9:30 a.m. off 35th Street and Pflanz Avenue, not far from Portland Elementary School. 

No injuries have been reported.

Smoke and flames from the fire on Monday afternoon could be seen for miles.

Many of the firefighters' families were present for the pinning ceremony at Louisville Slugger Field.
