LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentuckians faced an economic rollercoaster in 2022 seeing prices like never before at the grocery store and gas pump.
“Basically what it tells us is we've seen improvement from last year, but we still have a long way to go,” Kentucky Auditor Mike Harmon says.
Unemployment issues aren't letting up for many Kentuckians, some of whom still haven’t gotten a dime after months of calls.
The votes, which Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced on Saturday, come as he tries to put increasing political pressure on Democrats to support the PPP measure while negotiations over a sweeping coronavirus relief package remain stalled.
People who need help with unemployment benefits can schedule spots online for as early as Oct. 12, though only one slot for that day remained as of 3:10 p.m. Tuesday.
"No, one week is not enough anywhere,” Gov. Andy Beshear said at his press briefing in the Capitol Rotunda Thursday afternoon.
"We're just frustrated with it," Anastasio said.
State officials said they’re trying to “identify additional times and locations for in-person services” — though plans have not yet been finalized.
Meiser said she was laid off from her job at Goodwill in March. A week into May, the single mother told WDRB she has not received any unemployment benefits.
Filings for both states declined from the prior week, but showed that economic disruption from the pandemic is still spreading.
