LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — After a historic 2025 regular-season campaign, Louisville City FC is keeping the core of its team intact for another run at a third USL Championship star.

Sixteen players are already under contract for the 2026 season — including some USL award winners — as LouCity looks to build on back-to-back Players’ Shield titles and a record-breaking year.

Big names back in purple

Midfielder Taylor Davila, the 2025 USL Championship Player of the Year, and defender Kyle Adams, who was named Defender of the Year, headline the group of returning players. Also back are All-League selections Aiden McFadden (First Team), Sean Totsch (Second Team), and Josh Jones, whose contract option was picked up after being a Defender of the Year finalist and All-League First Team selection.

Zach Duncan, Danny Faundez, Sam Gleadle, Phillip Goodrum, Jake Morris, Ray Serrano, and Jansen Wilson also remain under contract for the 2026 campaign. Carlos Moguel Jr. will rejoin the squad after finishing 2025 on loan with New Mexico United.

Additionally, the club has exercised contract options on Amadou Dia, Evan Davila, and Manny Perez.

Honoring the departures

The club expressed its thanks to several departing players for their contributions. That includes Cameron Lancaster and Damian Las, who return to their parent clubs after loan spells; Niall McCabe and Brian Ownby, who both retired; Arturo Ordóñez, whose contract expired; Adrien Perez, whose option was declined; and Hayden Stamps, who departs after completing his academy contract and signing with Clemson University.

LouCity remains in negotiations to bring back additional players, with more announcements expected soon.

A record regular-season in 2025

Louisville’s 2025 season was one for the record books. The club became just the second in USL Championship history to win back-to-back Players’ Shields, setting an all-time league record for points per game at 2.43 and tying the record for most All-League First Team selections with five.

LouCity also set a new club record for fewest regular-season losses with just one. The team finished with the second-most points in club history (73), second-most wins (22), second-fewest goals allowed (19), second-most clean sheets (14), and second-most away victories (10).

However, a rare early exit from the USL playoffs leaves unfinished business for the team again next season.
