Kirby Smart

Georgia's Kirby Smart leads his team into a nationally ranked meeting with Tennessee this week.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's Week 3 against the spread, and last week illustrated the difficulty of some of these lines. I went 7-3 straight up but 5-5 against the spread to bring my season record ATS to 12-9.

This week, the toughest call I have is Clemson at Georgia Tech. I know the Yellowjackets are looking good and playing at home and in a big prove-it position. But Clemson, after surviving a lackluster trap-game performance against Troy, has to show something.

Also had trouble with the massive line in Bloomington tonight and figure out how Kentucky will fare with Cutter Boley in Lexington on Saturday.

Louisville | Kentucky | Indiana | Eric Crawford

Here are my Week 3 picks:

FRIDAY'S GAME

Indiana State (+47.5) at Indiana, 7:30 (58.5), BTN

The Hoosiers should be embarrassed for playing this game. But they cover. The pick: Indiana 56, Indiana State 3.

SATURDAY

Clemson (-3) at Georgia Tech, noon (52.5), ESPN

Clemson hasn't been clicking on offense. That was understandable against LSU, less so a week later in a 27-16 win over Troy, which admittedly, was a trap game that they survived. I like Georgia Tech to cover here, if not win outright.

The Pick: Georgia Tech 28, Clemson 24

Wisconsin (+21) at Alabama, noon (45.5), ABC

The question here isn't how good is Wisconsin but how bad is Alabama. Surely the Crimson Tide are uber-motivated. My answer to the question of whether the Tide will cover this week? They better.

The pick: Alabama 35, Wisconsin 10

Georgia (-4) at Tennessee, 3:30 (50.5), ABC

Georgia has been shaky offensively, but they are elite defensively and have had Tennessee's number for years. I don't think they've lost it.

The pick: Georgia 24, Tennessee 17

Pittsburgh (-7.5) at West Virginia, 3:30 (55.5), ESPN

Rich Rodriguez will get the offense going in Morgantown, but maybe not this year. Pittsburgh should be good enough to handle the Mountaineers – for now.

The pick: Pittsburgh 35, WVU 24

South Florida (+17.5) at Miami, 4:30 (56.5), The CW

How much do you believe in South Florida after its upset win at Florida. More, but not as much as you believe in Miami's team speed and Carson Beck operating the offense.

The pick: Miami 35, South Florida 14.

Florida (+7) at LSU, 7:30 (46.5), ABC

After losing to South Florida at home, I can't pick the Gators to cover at night in Baton Rouge.

The pick: LSU 24, Florida 14.

Texas A&M (+6.5) at Notre Dame, 7:30 (50.5), NBC

Notre Dame needs this win after its loss at Miami, and it needs style points. The moneyline is probably a better pick in this game, but I'll take Notre Dame and lay the points.

The pick: Notre Dame 21, Texas A&M 10.

Eastern Michigan (+24.5) at Kentucky, 7:30 (47.5), ESPNU

A tough one here. Kentucky with two quarterbacks, perhaps, adds yet another operational challenge for its offense. Still, EMU is 0-2.

The pick: Kentucky 38, Eastern Michigan 10.
