Pat Kelsey and Mark Pope

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- University of Louisville men's basketball fans who wanted to see Chris Beard on the bench at the KFC Yum! Center will get their wish next season.

On the opposing bench, that is.

The 16-game pairings for the second annual Atlantic Coast Conference/Southeastern Conference Challenge have been made.

Louisville will play host to Ole Miss, which is coached by Beard. The Rebels finished 20-12 last season and did not compete in any postseason play after a first-round exit in the SEC Tournament. It will be Pat Kelsey's introduction to the challenge for the Cards.

Kentucky will travel to play Clemson, which made the Elite Eight in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The Tigers, coached by Brad Brownell, were 24-12. They defeated New Mexico, Baylor and Arizona before losing to Alabama in the West Regional Final. It will also be Mark Pope's first appearance in the challenge for the Wildcats

Both the Cardinals and the Wildcats will play on Tuesday Dec. 3, the opening night of the challenge.

And former UK coach John Calipari, now at Arkansas, will play at Miami on Dec. 3.

The headliner games project to be Alabama at North Carolina and Auburn at Duke, both booked for Dec. 4.
