LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough will not play in the Sun Bowl vs. Washington and has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, he announced Wednesday.

The former Oregon and Texas Tech signal caller transferred to Louisville in hopes of having a fully healthy and successful season after battling numerous injuries over his collegiate career. He did not miss a game in his seventh year, throwing for 3,195 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions in 12 starts.

"I'm thankful to each program for giving me the opportunity to grow as a player and a person, shaping who I am both on and off the field," Shough wrote in an Instagram post. "I've learned so much about resilience during this journey, and the growth I've experienced along the way is a true reflection of the incredible support system I've had around me."

During Louisville's 8-4 campaign in year two under head coach Jeff Brohm, Shough showed consistency and an even-keeled demeanor. He showed off an ability to improvise when needed, which didn't mean as much running in an effort to stay healthier. The veteran displayed it by occasionally throwing from different arm angles or off platform to help make more plays.

Amongst ACC quarterbacks, Shough ranked in the top five in touchdowns, yards, yards per game, yards per attempt and quarterback rating. The Arizona native also provided steady leadership for Brohm and his brother, offensive coordinator and former UofL quarterback Brian while helping orchestrate victories like the program's first-ever win over Clemson and beating rival Kentucky for the first time since 2017.

"I'm especially grateful to the Louisville community for embracing me this year and to Coach Jeff Brohm and Coach Brian Brohm for their guidance and belief in me," Shough said. "I also want to thank the athletic trainers, strength and conditioning staff and equipment team for their tireless work and support.

"To my teammates, friends and family, thank you for always having my back and making all of this worth it."

The 2025 NFL Draft takes place in Green Bay, Wisconsin from April 24-26.
