LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- WDRB's Rick Bozich kicked up quite a stir when he wrote a column over the weekend about a pair of five-star recruits who could commit to Louisville if assured that Kenny Payne will remain as coach.
The Kentucky Sports Hall of Famer talks about his column with colleague Eric Crawford on today's edition of "Overtime," a sports talk program streaming on WDRB+.
And there's plenty more. A look at the episode's rundown:
- BOZICH EXPLAINS: There was no Louisville men’s basketball game this weekend, but there was a Bozich column, and boy did he get them riled up. He talked about a potential route for Kenny Payne’s return, and a pair of legit big-time recruits ready to commit if they feel confident Payne will return as coach. He discusses.
- KENTUCKY EXPLODES: The Wildcats faced Alabama in Rupp Arena on Saturday and the mix of two high-powered offenses produced the kind of fireworks you’d expect. The big question remains: Is that kind of game fool’s gold, or is Kentucky making progress on the defensive end?
- INDIANA EXITS? Indiana fell for a second time this season to Penn State last weekend. It’s becoming a real possibility that the Hoosiers could lose out – which would give them an eight-game losing streak to finish the season. We’ve been operating under the assumption that Mike Woodson’s place is secure in Bloomington at least for another season. Have we been perhaps hasty?
- STORMING THE COURT: You figured it would take a player getting hurt for any real reform to come in the area of fans storming the court. On Saturday, that player was Duke’s Kyle Filipowski, who was run over by court storming Wake Forest students and suffered a sprained knee. The ACC is the only major conference without a fine or penalty for court-storming. Where are we headed on this?
- LOUISVILLE WOMEN LOSE (AGAIN) AT HOME: Well, here’s something we’ve never talked about (how often do we get to say that on this show?) The Louisville women lost to unranked Virginia in the KFC Yum! Center on Sunday, the first time in 57 ACC tries that they’ve lost to an unranked opponent at home. It’s also the first time a Jeff Walz-coached team has lost back-to-back games in that building. On the heels of some great recruiting news, what’s going on with his current team?
- PITINO (AGAIN): Well, just when some people were ready to write off Rick Pitino as having lost his mind, his St. John’s team gave him one of the most enjoyable experiences of his lifetime, no doubt, on Sunday when they upset No. 15 Creighton 80-66, giving Pitino a signature win in his first season at the school. Think he’s enjoying things any more?
- WHAT WE MISSED: Suni Lee falls, Bellarmine wins on Senior Day, Indiana women knock off Iowa.
With their parting shots, Bozich talks about court storming, and Crawford about a less "shaggy" John Calipari.
