LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A deep and talented Louisville men's basketball backcourt keeps getting deeper. On Thursday, Virginia guard Isaac McKneely said he will play for the Cardinals next season.

McKneely, a 6-foot-4-inch guard from Poca, West Virginia, led the Cavaliers in scoring last season at 14 points per game and shot 42% from three-point range, averaging seven attempts per contest.

He had been viewed as a Louisville lean but took a visit to Tennessee in the past week. Still, Kelsey's offense and culture were a big attraction.

The On3 Sports recruiting website ranks him as the No. 9 player in the transfer portal so far, giving Louisville now three top-15 portal recruits. His commitment comes on the heels of Kelsey landing Kennesaw State's Adrian Wooley and Xavier's Ryan Conwell. Kelsey already had gotten a commitment from McDonald's All-American point guard Mikel Brown.

Those commitments are in addition to German big man Sananda Fru, as well as Louisville's returning players, which include big man Aly Khalifa, a transfer from BYU who redshirted last season, and guard Kobe Rodgers, a transfer from Charleston who also redshirted.

Louisville also expects to return big men Kasean Pryor and James Scott, as well as forward Khani Rooths and potentially forward J'Vonne Hadley, who could pick up an extra season of eligibility under a new NCAA guideline that doesn't count junior college seasons against a player's NCAA total.

According to a listing by Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, Louisville is expected to spend in the neighborhood of $8-$10 million, which would put its team payroll among the highest in the nation.
