LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Are you going through a tissue box a day? Allergy season is here.

Warmer weather and sunshine is great and all, but it also comes with a downside.

Dr. David Pallares with Family Allergy and Asthma visited WDRB Mornings on Thursday to talk about the upcoming allergy season and his predictions.

Pallares expects allergy symptoms to start getting worse over the next few weeks as tree pollen increases, so it's time to get prepared.

If you noticed warmer weather this winter, you weren't alone. Pallares said the abnormally warm weather this winter means pollen will start emerging sooner than usual.

"If you're coming in from outside, take off your shoes, change your clothes and take a shower," Pallares said. "Try to avoid the peak times of pollen, which is generally in the morning and at dusk."

Pallares suggests keeping pets off your bed and taking nasal steroids and antihistamines.

The best way to tell between allergies and other illnesses is a fever, so it's important to be aware.
