CLARKSVILLE, In. (WDRB) — Get out that fishing pole and catch a big one.
WDRB's Keith Kaiser found a group dedicated to reeling in some catfish.
Derby City Catfishing is a Louisville based fishing community co-founded by Brian "Louisville Man" Montgomery, Eric Sparkman, and Isaac Gilbert.
The three began fishing together along the Ohio River in 2023 for fun and then grew into a community of anglers.
Launched in early 2025, the group has grown to over 8,600 TikTok + 3,600 Facebook followers. The members document their fishing adventures through regular live streams, videos, and photos.
They go after everything from trophy-sized flatheads and blue cats to massive channel cats.
Derby City Catfishing makes the sport accessible to every skill level. They promote catch-and-release practices, advocate for non-toxic and environmentally friendly gear, and actively share information about care and respect for the waterways.
The group hosts free monthly fishing events along the river, bringing together families, veterans, newcomers, and seasoned anglers.
Their June 2026 gathering drew dozens of participants.
Members also compete on the MAD KATZ online tournament circuit, with multiple members regularly placing in the top five.
