LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Food Network's Christmas Cookie Challenge winner joined WDRB+ Live at 10 a.m. Thursday to share her experience on the show along with some cookie decorating tips.

Courtney Yopp Norris said she applied at least four times before finally getting selected to join the Nov. 7 episode.

Spoiler alert: she won the golden ornament trophy and $10,000.

Yopp Norris took a few minutes to share her best practices for decorating sugar cookies with Julie and Monica.

Her top three tips:

  1. When using a tipless icing bag cut a small hole the size of a piece of spaghetti to pipe the borders.
  2. Hold your icing back about ¼ inch from the top of the cookie. Squeeze a bit if icing out, and then let the icing fall onto the cookie, placing the icing where it should go.

  3. Do not hold your icing bag close and push your icing onto your cookie. Your lines will be bumpy and crooked.

Yopp Norris runs The Pocket Bakery out of her home as a side business, so she doesn't offer custom orders, but she said to keep an eye on her website for cookie decorating classes, kits and pre-order options.
