LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – You don't need to have a yard to still plant beautiful flowers and veggies. Container gardening is growing in popularity and still just as beneficial.
“It's actually low commitment. It's something that is seasonal, that can change out. You can do early spring all the way up until winter months with your container,” said Jeff Wallitsch of Wallitsch Gardens.
- Pick your container. You can use a terra-cotta pot, glazed pot, plastic pot, or even old mail boxes or suitcases.
- Your vessel needs to have a drainage hole at the bottom.
- Fill with potting soil.
- If your pot is extra large, you can put plastic bottles or packing peanuts on the bottom before filling with soil.
- Rip the bottom of the roots off your plant and place in soil.
- Make sure the plants you choose for your pot like the same amount of sun and water.
- Don’t forget to water daily and fertilize weekly.
