LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Attracting hummingbirds and pollinators like butterflies can add another layer of beauty to your garden.
Jeff Wallitsch, of Wallitsch Gardens, has a few tips to make it happen:
- Plant brightly colored flowers
- Trumpet shaped flowers, like lantanas, are perfect for hummingbirds to drink nectar from
- Hummingbirds are creatures of habit so it may take a few seasons to attract them to your garden
- Butterflies like to land on flat flowers, like echinacea
- A water source will help attract pollinators and hummingbirds
“Its good to have something very shallow because they're not going to go to anything deep,” Wallitsch said.
