LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Tickets are now on sale for a local production of "Nutcracker in a Nutshell."
It's a shorter, family-friendly, 1-hour version of the classic Nutcracker ballet.Â
The performance is scheduled to happen at the Louisville Palace Theater at 2 p.m. on Dec. 7. Tickets are $34, and organizers say they sell out quickly every year. The show is put on by MAGIC Inc, a nonprofit youth dance company.
MAGIC stands for "Making Art Grow in Children." The organization works to develop young dancers and promote music education.Â
"The Nutcracker in a Nutshell ballet has something for everyone -- a delightful party scene, a suspenseful battle between mice and soldiers and the wonderful fantasy of the Land of Sweets," said Director Evalyn Tirikos. "We’re debuting new choreography this year, too."
It’s great for all ages, especially younger children who wouldn't be able to sit through the longer 2-hour performance of the classic Nutcracker.
The local dancers taking part range in age from 6 to 18 years old and come from all over our area.
Tickets are available for purchase online at the Louisville Palace Theater, Ticketmaster or MAGIC Inc. Tickets can also be purchased in person at Louisville Palace Theater at 625 S. 4th Street, between Broadway and Chestnut Street.Â
