LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Jefferson County School officials want to make sure every student enjoys the holiday season.

The district is looking for sponsors for its Adopt A Family Winter Program. The program strives to bring gifts and support to JCPS families experiencing homelessness.

According to JCPS, there were 3,600 homeless students for the 2023-2024 school year.

"We believe the true number of homeless students is at least double the number from last school year," Giselle Danger, a specialist in the JCPS Access & Opportunity Office, said. "Participating in the Adopt A Family program is a gesture that can make a lasting impact in a child’s life."

JCPS asks sponsors to spend $100 per child, by purchasing gifts or gift cards to retailers like Walmart or restaurants.

Gifts can be dropped off at JCPS Camp Edwards, 701 S. Hancock Street in Louisville, between Dec. 2-6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To become a sponsor, fill out an online form by clicking here. Sponsors can be individuals or a group.
