LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) — A shared love of Mahjong is helping rebuild the lives of abused women.

The "Charleston for Change" charity event supports women affected by human trafficking and sexual exploitation through Mahjong.
On Saturday, Aug. 29, Refuge for Women Kentucky will host a night of Mahjong at Taylor Creek Farm in Crestwood.
The event was inspired by Louisville artist Micki Thomas, whose passion for the game led her to create an exclusive collection of Mahjong mats, tiles, and accessories that benefit the local nonprofit.

Refuge for Women Kentucky provides safe housing, trauma-informed care, counseling, employment support, and long-term restorative programming that empowers women to heal and build independent, hope-filled futures.
Charleston for Change invites both experienced Mahjong players and beginners to enjoy an afternoon of play.
The event will feature Open Play and Beginner Tables, with all proceeds benefiting Refuge for Women Kentucky.
