LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Looking to add a furry friend to your family? GRRAND has the perfect match for you.
The Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs, also known as GRRAND, has 102 dogs available for adoption. It is one of the highest numbers of adoptable dogs that they have ever had.
Jennifer Barbour and Brian Riddle visited WDRB Mornings on Thursday along with some of their pups to talk about their organization.
GRRAND answers any call, no matter the situation. Recently, there has been an influx of calls to their organization which has brought in the huge number of dogs.
One of the most recent intakes they took in consisted of six dogs that were chained up outside, four of them were pregnant.
A big part of the current adoption number is puppies, which will be weening and ready for adoption and fostering in the next few weeks.
GRRAND is looking for people to adopt, as well as people who want to foster. The process is not a short one, but don't be discouraged.
The adoption/fostering process is meant to dive deep into every detail to make sure you are paired with the perfect dog for you and your family.
The process consists of an online application, a phone call to your veterinarian to verify your vet records, phone calls to your references, and a home visit.
"That's the one great thing about GRRAND," Riddle said on WDRB Mornings. "You can't just walk in, grab a dog, and walk out in a matter of minutes and us not know where that dog is going"
Each of GRRAND's dogs are microchipped and tagged, so they can always ensure that no matter where the dog goes it is being well taken care of and in the right place.
If you are interested in adopting a dog from GRRAND or fostering, visit their website to fill out an application.
