We all know it's coming. The I-65 shutdown. It's going to undoubtedly cause traffic headaches and backups, especially Monday morning and afternoon for the first day of the shut down. I (Bryce) may be a Meteorologist, but I've done traffic plenty of times (& grew up here) to know that a little rain makes traffic a lot worse.

We have increased our rain chance a tad for Monday. So, the obvious question is...will the morning or afternoon commute have a better chance of seeing them?

Storms will develop to our west in Illinois and Missouri early tomorrow morning. Through the morning, those storms and showers will start rolling toward our area. Here's the good thing...most of those storms are likely to dive toward southwest KY due to there being more moisture and instability there!

With that being said, we are still probably going to get clipped with some showers on the northern extent of those storms. Most of those will be moving through after the morning commute; think more late morning through mid afternoon.

With that being said, there will be a slightly higher rain chance for the afternoon commute compared to the morning. It's not a great chance, but one could argue more of a 30% for some scattered downpours or storms for the afternoon commute as we start to pull the moisture back out of our area.

This isn't a scenario where it's going to be raining cats & dogs for everyone and causing ponding issues. This would be more "spotty showers that last 10 minutes" kind of set up.

You can see that rain totals are pretty spotty and where there are some, they're not very much. Be safe hitting the roads tomorrow!
