Drought conditions have plagued our communities for months now with Moderate and Severe Drought emerging at the end of 2023. This week we have seen significant improvement in the U.S. Drought Monitor.
The map above shows you last week's Drought Monitor, with this week's update below. Generally all of our area dropped one category meaning those of you who were Abnormally Dry are no longer highlighted here at all. Those of you who were experiencing Moderate Drought are now considered to be just Abnormally Dry thanks to all the rain we saw during January, particularly the last two weeks of the month.
Normally in January Louisville sees a little over three inches of rain for the whole month. 2024, though, brought about twice that much!
