LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's never too late to win a blue ribbon at the Kentucky State Fair.
Georgetown native Robert Hall, 94, entered his baked goods Monday in hopes of taking home the grand prize. Hall entered his apple pie and shortbread, and even presented them to the judges in his picnic basket.
He's entered his livestock for judging before but never tried the culinary division.
"Just do it," Hall said. "Enjoy it, because it just comes once a year, maybe once a lifetime."
Hall went to his first state fair when it was held at Churchill Downs during World War II. He also helped run the North American International Livestock Exposition at the Expo Center.
Entrants will find out if they won a ribbon when the fair starts Thursday.
