LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Although Halloween is just around the corner, Louisville leaders are already thinking about the holiday season.
The city is now looking for the perfect tree for the 56th annual Light Up Louisville.
Organizers are asking the public if they have or know of a "majestic Fir or Spruce that is on Santa's list."
There are a few guidelines for the tree. Louisville Urban Forestry said a Fir or a Spruce is the desired species of tree, with a towering height of 35 to 50 feet, and consistent fullness and uniform shape all around.
If you think you have the perfect tree, or know someone who does, you're encouraged to reach out via email to urbanforestry@louisvilleky.gov or via direct message to Around Louisville @aroundlou.
Light Up Louisville turns Jefferson Square Park, at the corner of Sixth and West Jefferson streets downtown, into a winter wonderland for the holidays.Â
The festivities typically start in the afternoon, and include family-friendly activities such as shopping at the Mistletoe Market, snacks, live entertainment, photos with Santa, a trackless train ride, the Lots of Lights parade and free activities for kids.Â
Santa will be on hand and flip the switch, launching the start of Light Up Louisville and the lighting of the famous downtown tree.
According to the city's website, this year's Light Up Louisville is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6 from 3-9 p.m. To learn more, click here.
