LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- From disc golf to hiking trails and dog parks, Louisville residents are weighing in on what they would like to see added to city-owned land along River Road.

Parks along the River Road corridor, including Champions Park, in Louisville could soon see some changes, and it's up to the community to help decide what those changes might be.

Two community meetings were held last month to provide the community a chance to give input on what they'd like to see, and an online survey is open now through Sept. 19.

According to the city's River Road Land Use Vision Plan webpage, some of the most popular terms used in public meetings and survey responses so far include disc golf, cycling, dogs, safety, trails and connection.

Responses currently vary in requests for amenities, current uses and new requests for park spaces and public lands.

Planning officials say some of the metro-owned parcels of land along River Road are in a flood zone, so building any structures could be difficult and risky as there are limits to what can and can't be built.

The city's Office of Planning said they want more community input on ways to improve the public lands, whether that's additional spaces for certain activities or keeping certain spots, like dog parks, the size they are and where they are.

The survey is available on the city's website and is open through Sept. 19. You can also contact the Community Planning Team by email or calling them at (502) 574-6230.
