LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Cats and Cardinals will face each other on the gridiron in the Governor's Cup Saturday, Nov. 29, but another rivalry is already underway as the schools work to tackle food insecurity on their campuses.Â
Food insecurity is a growing concern on campuses all over the U.S. That's why the University of Louisville and University of Kentucky are taking part in the "Cards vs. Cats Challenge." It started Nov. 24, and continues through Giving Tuesday (Dec. 2), according to a news release. It's up to fans to carry their team to victory by donating to the cause.Â
Funds raised by UofL fans will go toward the Cardinal Cupboard, while money from Kentucky fans will support the Big Blue Pantry. Both the Cupboard and the Pantry provide students in need with canned goods, pantry staples and peace of mind.Â
The school with the most donors by midnight on Dec. 2 wins the challenge.
